Ceramic Artist & Art Teacher

Olivia Canavan is a professional visual artist living and working in County Cavan.  She holds a National Diploma in Textile Art from GMIT, a BA Hons Degree in Fine and Applied Art from the University of Ulster and a H. Dip in Art Education from Crawford College of Art and Design.

Olivia has been working as a secondary school art teacher for more than 17 years.  She works across a broad range of disciplines including paint, textiles, felt-making, theatre and ceramics.  Her practice in under pinned by a strong sense of participation.  She has enjoyed past collaborations with various artists and community groups.

Olivia has her own studio practice where she designs and handmakes functional contemporary pottery and ceramics.  She also teaches ceramics and pottery to participants at all ages.

She has exhibited locally and nationally in group exhibitions.  She has also managed a variety of large art projects in the education sector.
